Application
Pentafluorobenzonitrile, a white crystalline powder, is a crucial step in both pharmaceuticals and pesticides.
To obtain pentafluorobenzonitrile, use pentafluoroiodobenzene and cuprous cyanide as raw materials, react in pyridine for a few minutes at 150°C, cool somewhat, and then distill under reduced pressure; do the same with pentafluorobromobenzene and cuprous cyanide. The final product of the fluorination reaction of pentabromobenzonitrile is produced by reacting pentabromobenzonitrile and potassium fluoride in the pressure kettle's nitrile solvent for 20 hours at 300°C; the fluorination reaction of pentachlorobenzonitrile is produced in a pressure kettle without the use of a solvent; and the pentachlorobenzonitrile and potassium fluoride are produced in a pressure kettle's benzonitrile solvent without the addition of a catalyst. At 315°C, react for 18 hours. A 75.5% yield of pure pentafluorobenzonitrile can be obtained by chilling and filtering the mother liquid. In comparable circumstances, a step-by-step method can also be implemented.
