Application

Utilizing 2,4,5-trifluorotoluene as the starting material, create 2,4,5-trifluorodichlorobenzyl by side chain chlorination with chlorine, and then hydrolyze to produce 2,4,5-trifluorobenzyl benzoaldehyde. 2,4,5-trifluorotoluene, the method's raw ingredient, is costly and hard to come by.
Lewis acid catalysis and a Gattermann-Koch reaction with a mixed gas of carbon monoxide and hydrogen chloride at high pressure produce 2,4,5-trifluorobenzaldehyde from 2,4,5-trifluorobenzene as the starting material. The high cost and scarcity of raw materials are further drawbacks of this approach.
It starts with 2,4,5-trifluorobenzene and combines with n-butyllithium at room temperature to produce 2,4,5-trifluorobenzaldehyde. DMF is then added. This method's reaction conditions are harsh, and the raw components are extremely pricey.
