Benzoylmethyl bromide (555 mg) and 2,3,4,5,6-pentafluorobenzoic acid (700 mg) should be dissolved in anhydrous acetonitrile solution (0.1 M, 32 mL) in a dry 100 mL reaction flask. The aforementioned reaction solution was then stirred while N,N-diisopropylethylamine (1.04 mL, 6 mmol, 2 equivalents) was gradually added dropwise. For three hours, the resultant reaction solution was swirled at room temperature (the reaction's advancement was tracked using a TLC spot plate). In order to remove the reaction solvent, the reaction mixture was concentrated under vacuum after the reaction. By using silica gel column chromatography to separate and purify the residue, the desired product molecule can be achieved.
