Procedure for synthesis
A 3,4-difluorobenzonitrile production procedure that is distinguished by the following steps:
1) Add 3,4-dichlorobenzonitrile, anhydrous aprotic polar solvent, and a water-carrying agent to a reaction kettle equipped with a reflux and water separation apparatus. Heat the kettle to 90–120°C to induce reflux and water separation, and wait one to two hours until no water is removed;
2) To obtain the intermediate 3-chloro-4-fluorobenzonitrile, add potassium fluoride and catalyst to the reaction kettle, increase the temperature to 130–150°C, reflux, and separate the water for two to three hours;
3) Keep increasing the temperature to 180–200°C, and after 5–6 hours of reaction, the reaction is finished;
4) Use lower pressure to dilute the reaction solution and filter, then wash the filter cake with toluene;
5) Move the suction-filtered solution to the rectification kettle so that it can be vacuum-distilled. The rectification kettle's bottom temperature is 110–150°C, the collection tower's top temperature is 95~, and the vacuum degree is 0.08~0.1MPa. 3,4-difluorobenzonitrile is the fraction at 105°C;
6) Move the solution from the distillation kettle to the reaction kettle in step 1 for further synthesis once the vacuum distillation is finished.
