Application

Tetrafluorophenol is a crucial chemical raw material and pharmaceutical intermediate that is frequently utilized in the creation of novel materials and drugs. Peptide compounds that block aspartate-specific cysteine protease, arthritis-treating anti-inflammatory drugs like robbencoxib, etc.

The borate ester is produced by a low-temperature butyllithium reaction with 1,2,4,5-tetrafluorobenzene as the starting material. Following hydrolysis, boric acid is produced, which is further oxidized to provide 2.3.5.6-tetrafluorophenol. High-activity butyl lithium is used in this process. The reaction conditions necessitate a low temperature and are rather severe. Under the protection of an oxygen-free, anhydrous inert gas, it is conducted. It requires a lot of solvents, has significant manufacturing costs, and has comparatively high equipment requirements. Working in industrialization is not simple.
