Application
Strong oxidizer trifluoromethanesulfonic acid is utilized as a catalyst in the synthesis of organic molecules. It has been demonstrated to be a potent catalyst for the synthesis of triflate, which can be utilized in cationic polymerization, and it is a great solvent for a variety of processes. Because trifluoromethanesulfonic acid may decrease nitriles and carboxylic acids, it may also find use in asymmetric synthesis and carbohydrate chemistry. Under active circumstances, potassium hexafluorophosphate can react with amines or nitrogen atoms to produce trifluoromethanesulfonic acid.

[ Storage conditions ]:
Do not contact with air during storage. Cork, rubber stoppers and ordinary plastics are easily corroded. Teflon, stainless steel or iron products can be used. When storing in sealed glass bottles, the sealing part must use fluorinated grease or Teflon sealing material.
[Stability]:
1. Trifluoromethanesulfonic acid is a colorless liquid with a strong pungent odor. It is highly hygroscopic and reacts violently with moisture in the air to produce a large amount of white smoke. It is the strongest monobasic acid. It is extremely stable to heat and does not decompose at 350°C. Using nitric acid as the standard, compare the strengths of various monobasic acids as follows: CF3SO3H 427, HClO4 397, HBr 164, H2SO4 30, CH3SO3H 17, HCl 9, CF3COOH 1, HNO3 1. Special care should be taken when using it and absolutely avoid contact with it or inhalation of vapor.
2. It has strong hygroscopicity and will smoke when in contact with air. When it encounters wood products, rubber products or plastic products, it will fade and wood products, etc. will be damaged. The reagent should be stored in a disposable injection bottle or Teflon bottle and should be used in a fume hood.
