Application
The emulsion polymerization of fluorine-containing monomers requires the presence of fluorine-containing surfactants. They stabilize the product's emulsion qualities in addition to having good emulsification qualities for fluorine-containing monomers. The following procedures may be used to create quaternary ammonium salt from perfluorobutanesulfonyl fluoride: Weigh out a specific quantity of isopropyl ether and ethylene diamine in the reaction container, then gradually add the same quantity dropwise at a low temperature. Raise the temperature to 50°C and let the perfluorobutylsulfonyl fluoride react for an hour.The light yellow solid of the isopropyl ether solvent is distilled out by heating it under low pressure, recrystallizing it with ethanol, and then vacuum-drying it to produce a white solid when it has cooled. An equal mole of maleic anhydride is added to the reaction flask, which is first stirred at room temperature for half an hour before being heated to 50°C and stirred for one hour. Weigh a specific amount of the white solid into a three-necked flask, then add dimethyl formamide and stir until it dissolves completely. Once it has cooled, it should be poured into distilled water to precipitate, filtered to produce a white solid product, dissolved with NaOH solution, and then heated to react to produce a quaternary ammonium salt-type cationic surfactant that contains fluorine.
