Application
Triflic acid's remarkable acidity is one of its key benefits. Being one of the strongest Brønsted–Lowry acids discovered to date, it has a pKa value of -14, making it extremely reactive and able to catalyze a variety of chemical processes. It can facilitate acid-catalyzed processes such esterification, acetalization, and Friedel–Crafts reactions by functioning as a proton donor. Its additional ability to function as a Lewis acid expands the range of possible uses for it in organic chemistry.
