2-Fluoroanisole is a clear, colorless liquid. It is a crucial step in the production of liquid crystal materials containing fluorine as well as a crucial step in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals and pesticides. The author prepared 2-fluoroanisole by one-step etherification using toluene and tetrahydrofuran as solvents and o-difluorobenzene and sodium methoxide as raw ingredients.
