The industrial uses of polyfluoroarenes include organic solar cells, liquid crystals, and electronics. Furthermore, 1,2,4,5-tetrafluorobenzene is used in the production of pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals, where its remarkable stability and reactivity are advantageous properties.
The main synthesis methods of 1,2,4,5-tetrafluorobenzene:
1. J.Am.Chem.Soc., Vol.118, No.7, 1996 reported that perfluorocyclohexane was used as raw material in the presence of zirconocene metal catalyst ((Cp2ZrCl2+Mg/HgCl2) Removal reaction to prepare a straight line of 1,2,4,5-tetrafluoro.
The yield of this method is 35%, the raw materials are not easy, and a precious metal catalyst is used.
2. Hexafluorobenzene or pentafluorobenzene was utilized as a raw material to remove fluorine in the presence of reagents containing phosphorus to generate 1,2,4,5- Tetrafluorobenzene method, according to J.Am.Chem.Soc., 2014, 136, 4634–4639.
Although this process yields roughly 98% of the sample, the catalyst preparation is challenging and the raw components are costly.
