Method of preparation
The primary techniques for synthesizing 1,2,4,5-tetrafluorobenzene are:
1. Perfluorocyclohexane was utilized as the starting material and created via an elimination reaction with zirconocene metal catalyst ((Cp2ZrCl2+Mg/HgCl2) Route to 1,2,4,5-tetrafluorobenzene), according to J.Am.Chem.Soc., Vol.118, No.7,
1996.
This process uses a precious metal catalyst, rare raw materials, and a 35% yield.
2. Hexafluorobenzene or pentafluorobenzene was utilized as a raw material to remove fluorine in the presence of reagents containing phosphorus to generate 1,2,4,5- Tetrafluorobenzene method, according to J.Am.Chem.Soc., 2014, 136, 4634–
4639.
Although this process yields roughly 98% of the sample, the catalyst preparation is challenging and the raw components are costly.
3. Hexafluorobenzene or pentafluorobenzene was utilized as the raw material, and fluorine was eliminated using a catalyst containing rhodium to create 1,2,4,5-tetrafluorobenzene, according to J. Fluorine Chem., 155 (2013), 132-142.
This process produces a lot of byproducts, has a low yield, and is challenging to create the catalyst that contains rhodium.
