4-Fluorophenol is the organic compound, It is a phenolic compound and has been used in the manufacture of other chemicals such as trifluoroacetic acid, sodium carbonate and creatinine sulfate. The hydroxyl group of 4-Fluorophenol is capable of donating a proton to hydrogen fluoride to form the intramolecular hydrogen bond, which is an important factor in its chemical reactivity. This reaction mechanism can be seen using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy on bacterial strains. 4-Fluorophenol has been shown to be effective for wastewater treatment due to its ability to react with oxygen nucleophiles such as creatinine sulfate and p-hydroxybenzoic acid.
