On the afternoon of December 22, 2024, Academician Huang He of Nanjing Normal University was a guest at the Tsinghua Chemical Industry Forum and Industrial Biocatalysis Forum, and gave a special report entitled "Synthetic Biology Empowers Biomanufacturing and Drives the Innovative Development of New Quality Productivity". The forum was hosted by Professor Li Chun, Director of the Key Laboratory of Industrial Biocatalysis of the Ministry of Education. More than 50 teachers and students from the Department of Chemical Engineering, School of Life Sciences, and Institute of Process Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences of Tsinghua University attended the forum in Room 201 of Yingshi Building.
Academician Huang He used functional sugars, new generation acidulants, functional oils and other cases to deeply explore the innovative application of synthetic biology in the field of biomanufacturing and its role in promoting productivity innovation. He pointed out that in the face of the challenges of synthetic biology, we should aim at the international frontier, strengthen international cooperation, deepen school-enterprise cooperation, combine artificial intelligence, break through the limitations of the original biological system, and create a new type of biomanufacturing system that is more adapted to industrial needs to drive the innovative development of new quality productivity.

Huang He, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, vice president of Nanjing Normal University, professor and doctoral supervisor, has been approved for the National Outstanding Youth Fund and a number of national talent projects. He has been engaged in research related to metabolic engineering and synthetic biology of industrial microorganisms for a long time. His research results have won 2 second prizes of the National Technological Invention Award and 2 first prizes of the Ministry of Education for Technological Invention as the first finisher. He has also won the Science and Technology Youth Innovation Award of the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation, the Min Enze Energy and Chemical Outstanding Contribution Award, the National Highest Science and Technology Award for Business, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Young Scientist Award. From 2014 to 2022, he was continuously selected into the Elsevier list of Chinese highly cited scholars in the field of chemical engineering.
