2,6-difluorophenol is produced by substituting a hydroxyl group for the amino group on the benzene ring of 2,6-difluoroaniline, which is used as the starting material:
Making the 2,6-difluoroaniline aqueous phase: After cooling to -5°C, add two in stages while stirring, starting with 14.4 L of the prepared 30% sodium hydroxide aqueous solution and 19.0 L of sodium hypochlorite aqueous solution. The total amount of 6-difluorobenzamide added is 4.0 kg (25 mol). Continue stirring for another two hours once the addition is finished. To generate the light red product 2,6-difluoroaniline, which weighed 3.0 kg (23 mol), 2.1 kilogram of sodium bisulfate was then added at room temperature, agitated for 10 minutes, steam distilled, liquid separated, and distilled under reduced pressure. 98.3% purity and 92.0% yield.
2,6-difluorophenol's aqueous phase preparation: To create 2,6-difluorophenol, add 3.0 kg (23 mol) of 2,6-difluoroaniline and 25 kg of the produced 30% sulfuric acid aqueous solution to the reaction kettle. Heat while stirring. Completely dissolve difluoroaniline, cool to -5°C with vigorous stirring, then gently add 5.6 kg of the prepared 30% sodium nitrite aqueous solution dropwise, maintain the reaction temperature at -5~0°C, continue the reaction for 2 hours after the dropwise addition, and pump Filter, dispose of the filter residue, break down excess nitrous acid with urea aqueous solution, adjust until the starch potassium iodide test paper does not turn blue, make a solution of 2,6-difluoroaniline diazo salt, store it in the refrigerator, and use it straight away for the next reaction.Under heated reflux, add 4.0 kg of copper sulfate and 22 kg of 50% sulfuric acid dropwise to another kettle. Distil as you go, then remove the 2,6-difluorophenol that is produced on time. 2,6-difluorophenol, a white product with a purity of 98.6% and a yield of 88.9%, was obtained by separating, drying, filtering, and distilling the effluent under decreased pressure.
